• Stephen King’s House

Renowned horror author Stephen King is from Bangor. You can visit his home or take a guided tour to see some sites that inspired him. The Stephen King Tour takes you to places where he lived and worked, some film locations, and even the cemetery where Pet Semetary was filmed.

• The Paul Bunyan Statue

You can’t go to Bangor without checking out the Paul Bunyan statue. The city of Bangor was originally a big player in the lumber industry, and the 31-foot statue pays tribute to lumberjacks that worked in the area. A group of New York builders gave the statue to the city in 1959. It has a metal frame covered in fiberglass and claims to be the largest Paul Bunyan statue in the world. You can see it standing tall right in Bass Park.

• Mount Hope Garden Cemetery

Make sure to take a stroll through Mount Hope Garden Cemetery. This huge garden and cemetery feature old war cannons, a river, and several monuments. You can even take a guided tour with information about the cemetery and who is buried there, or just enjoy strolling through on your own.
